The LNE is not only the national reference in metrology for the French industry, but also a dedicated organism to research, calibration, testing, certification and training.

GEOMNIA has forged a close partnership with the LNE with which it had two main R&D projects: 

 

 

 

A project concerning the development of a new reference apparatus for an ultra-high-accuracy cylindricity measurement. GEOMNIA has taken part in the design of this new apparatus and in the development of software for the form characterization of hollow/solid cylinders, while aiming at a measurement uncertainty of few nanometers, brought by a technological shift and pushing the LNE to the top of the international rankings. This work was covered by a PhD thesis that was accomplished during the period between April 2010 and December 2013 in collaboration with Arts et Métiers ParisTech. The work was subject to several international scientific publications.


A project concerning the complex surfaces reconstruction from large and unorganized datasets for 3D metrology.  This project falls within the European Metrology Research Program of 2010 (EURAMET): SRT 06i and is entitled “Optical and tactile metrology for absolute form characterization”. The related research initiated by the LNE and GEOMNIA was subject to another PhD thesis which has started in September 2011 and ended in December 2014 in collaboration with Arts et Métiers ParisTech and the ENS de Cachan Engineering schools. GEOMNIA hosted the PhD student for a period of 2 years and participated, along with the LNE, in the funding of the research matter.

The INSM (Ingénierie Numérique des Systèmes Mécaniques) is a research team within the Laboratoire des Sciences de l’Information et des Systèmes LSIS-INSM (UMR CNRS n° 7296) of the Engineering school of Arts et Métiers ParisTech (ENSAM) in Lille. It aims at developing mathematical methods and algorithms for vibrations control in multi-axis mechanical systems and for the control over the form description of complex geometries.

 

 

These works are focused around two topics:

• •A thematic of applied mathematics oriented towards the proficiency in the description of complex geometries in CAD/CAM and trajectory planning in robotics.

• A second thematic on the topic of design of high-precision nano-measuring machines aiming at controlling the geometrical accuracy of surfaces through the usage of measurement machines and the elaborations of standard artifacts.

The cooperation between GEOMNIA and Arts et Métiers ParisTech in Lille covers the following projects:

AC_GAMMA (Advanced Computational Geometry for Automatic Micrometric Metrology Applications) ), a collaborative R&D project sponsored by OSEO, FEDER and La Région Nord-Pas de Calais.

The development of a new reference apparatus for the ultra-high-accuracy cylindricity measurement. . A PhD thesis that took place between April 2010 and December 2013 in partnership with the LNE.

Complex surfaces reconstruction from large and unorganized datasets for 3D metrology. PhD thesis that took place between September 2011 and December 2014 in partnership with the LNE and ENS de Cachan (LURPA).

SELECT 2.0, a collaborative R&D project in robotics held by the pole of competitiveness i-Trans under a FUI funding. EADS IW leads this project alongside Montupet, le CETIM and Dupuis Mécanique.

 

 

 

• GEOMNIA is also a partner of the Usine Agile technological Platform of Arts et Métiers ParisTech, Lille. Usine Agile is a platform for the development of innovative numerical tools and processes at an industrial scale.

The Center for Innovation in Contactless Technologies promotes the understanding of upcoming innovative contactless technologies in matters of the Internet of Things.

Its primary mission is to reinforce the existing synergies between the different actors of the economical system, industrial, academic or even institutional actors who wish to master, anticipate or just be informed about the Internet of Things, and more specifically, the contactless technologies.

 

 

 • GEOMNIA is a member of the design office and the board of directors of Citc-EuraRFID. Citc-EuraRFID.

 • The main cooperation between GEOMNIA and Citc-EuraRFID covers the contactless measurement technologies.
